We, along with about three other bachelorette parties touring Lake Placid this weekend, stopped in for dinner on recommendation from a friend. Two members of our party had food restrictions (vegan and Keto) so, I was a little hesitant eating a BBQ joint. Even though we really wanted to drop in on the wedding upstairs, we stayed at our tables for what became a very memorable meal.
Joey, our server, treated us with an introduction and immediately took our drink orders. We got Fried Pickles and Hummus for the table. The pickles are amazing and the hummus is better! We asked for some side veggies and Joey was able to provide some tomatoes and celery.
Dinner was ordered once apps arrived to ensure perfect timing between the meal. The bride to be ordered tacos. Holy hell are they big! Additional meals ordered included: brisket philly, meatloaf, ahi tuna wontons. The wontons have a sneaky wasabi kick that you almost miss if you're not paying attention. Do not miss out on the Brussels sprouts! I would slap my mom for another order!
The portion sizes were huge and you should be prepared to bring home food. Above all else, ASK FOR JOEY! He knows the menu and displays a passion for his work that is greatly missing from the service industry. He loves his job almost as much as he loves his dog (which is A LOT!...he told us so it must be true).
Thanks for the margs, Joey! -

We were pretty excited to eat here. We were sad we couldn't eat more as we had a wedding to attend. We shared half a rack of dry rub ribs, mashed potatoes, collards and a good sized piece of corn bread. Everything was great, my half of the ribs were a teeny bit dry on the edges but really most of it was melt in your mouth delicious. Folks with dairy allergies beware the collards had cream to cut the vinegar. And of course the whipped mashed potatoes had dairy as well.
So one more comment --- for you folks who actually cook southern food or just have an above average knowledge of COLLARD GREENS. Contrary to what our mansplaining waiter said... collard greens and Swiss chard are two completely different veggies. . .
We would however take his advice and return for the brisket :). -

Every visit at Smoke Signals does not disappoint. From the hostess station to paying the bill, everyone makes you feel as if you are family. The menu options are plentiful, and the draft libations are second to none.
We always start with the dry rub wings, which are so amazing that we have actually asked for the seasonings to go so we can duplicate it at home.
Each entree is masterfully created, and the BBQ sauce is sweet and savory.
If you are looking for an overall great evening out, with a nice ambience and live music, this is the spot.
The wait is usually long, so just get there early and put your cell number on the list and then take a moment to walk beautiful lake placid as you build your appetite. You will be glad you did! -

My boyfriend and I went on a long weekend getaway to the Adirondacks, and we loved this place so much that we dined here two days in a row!
WAIT TIME: The first night we came here (Thursday night), we were told the wait would be an hour but that they would give us a call when our table was ready, so we browsed the Main Street shops to kill time and our table was ready in 30 mins. The second day we came here was around opening time (Friday around 3:15-3:30) and there was no wait at all.
FOOD: I can't stress this enough - GET THE BRISKET! 20/10 would recommend! You would be a fool to get anything on this menu that doesn't have their brisket in it! It's the the most tender (like "cut with a spoon" then "melt in your mouth" tender), flavorful piece of beef you'll ever eat. Even after leaving here with a full stomach for the second day in a row, I still wanted more and am salivating just thinking about it.
*WHAT WE ORDERED:
- Signals Sampler: Beef Brisket was amazing, pulled pork was nothing special, and ribs were good with their delicious BBQ sauces (I prefer the Perpetual Pig one, but my boyfriend prefers the Habanero Hog one). The ribs just weren't "fall-off-the-bone" tender.
- Brisket French Dip: My boyfriend loved the brisket (comes with 4 slices!) with the caramelized onions/provoline/swiss combo, but he wasn't a big fan of the au jus.
- Beef Brisket: See the "FOOD" paragraph above!
- Sides: All sides were very good including the Buttered Cornbread, Cheddar Bacon Mac and Cheese, and Fries (well seasoned).
SERVICE: The wait staff was great, always available and prompt if we needed anything.
VIEWS: The views overlooking Lake Placid are gorgeous! Request outdoor seating if you can.
If you live in the area or are visiting Lake Placid, you need this on your list of go-to places to eat! -

Interesting place, Very noisy - between the rock music and wood chairs scraping on wood floor. The servers are even screaming because it's so loud. It needs to be addressed. My dry rub wings had potential but were very dry and not moist. The cornbread was very hard and not tasty. Mashed potatoes are good but salty. I don't drink - they need to offer some mock tails. Pretty place though - lots of good seating to overlook the water.
